The Aquaterra Energy PROTen Hang-Off Tool (HOT) has been designed to provide support to the conductor for a number of operations which will help you save vital rig time. The tool can be used whilst waiting on cement to cure during platform drilling operations, as well as for general conductor or well support during abandonment operations. Using this tool will support rig-time savings of 24 to 48 hours of drilling unit idle time.
Although our system is primarily designed for platform operations, it can also be utilised on a rig floor during exploration well drilling – creating a safer and more controllable support once the conductor has been run and the cement stringer deployed, as well as for proving conductor cuts.

By using the PROten Hang-off tool to hold the casing at its final position whilst the cement cures, it enables the drill package to skid over to the next well and continue with drilling operations.
With traditional operations, the casing would have been held in its final position with the correct amount of tension/overpull via holding with the top drive or by being locked into the rotary table. Due to the curing process being anything from 12-24 hours (depending on mix) it can waste a lot of rig utilisation time, especially if attempting multiple wells, as no further work can be performed until this curing process has been met.
Using our previous service report data our PROten Hang-off Tool can save circa one rig day per well. The saving of a day’s operational time, equates to 67.71 tonnes of CO2e (using performance data from a mid-range jack-up).
