During my final year at University I applied for a work experience placement at Aquaterra Energy. Knowing it was an engineering company, I wasn’t sure if they would have a role for a physics graduate, but I was offered a two week placement in the Riser Analysis department during the Christmas holidays, and then a second one over Easter. This led to me being offered a place as a Graduate Analyst once I had completed my degree.
I have been an established Riser Analyst within Aquaterra Energy for over nine years now, following the completion of the scheme. I find the work both interesting and challenging and I am learning all the time. At Aquaterra Energy you’re given the opportunity to work on projects for some of the biggest companies in the oil and gas industry across the world; I really value being given these responsibilities and feeling that my contribution is supporting the business reach its goals and delivering engineering excellence.
The culture at Aquaterra is fast-paced and challenging, but everyone is friendly and approachable and we like to help each other out. You feel like part of a team, even when working on a project alone. I’m also part of the charity and social committee and there is always something fun going on that you can get involved with if you want to.
