Salary range £45,000 to £50,000 depending on experience

At Aquaterra Energy we specialise in providing engineering solutions and equipment to the global offshore energy industry – helping clients drive efficient and sustainable offshore operations from drilling and field development, to decommissioning, carbon capture and storage, renewable, and hydrogen projects.
We're looking for an experienced Design Engineer to join our expanding team. You'll proactively undertake design tasks, including management of those tasks from project outset to completion of all requirements.

About the role
- Planning and management of allocated design tasks in line with the design engineering process, including:
- To engage proactively with customers / clients and suppliers as necessary to undertake / deliver work.
- To update project activity via the project reporting process.
- Deliver engineering tasks in relation to allocated project(s), highlighting to the Design Engineering Manager and Project Engineer/Manager any identified variations to plan at the earliest opportunity.
- Take ownership, responsibility for and drive forward all technical / design aspects of a project.
- Check / Approve colleague’s calculations, FEA, drawings and documents as assigned. Give constructive feedback on colleague’s work with the aim of improving standards of work and competence.
- Present and chair design reviews in accordance with department training and guidelines documented in the Design Engineering Process, using IT equipment available to fully present the competed design, or support more junior engineers in their presentation of design reviews.
- To support the sales effort to develop / review / approve design solutions, resource and delivery plans in support of company proposals.
- Train and mentor graduate / developing engineers, leading by example, ensuring best practice and Design Engineering Procedure is followed as well as ensuring the highest standards are met.
- Develop best practice and lead department improvement projects in conjunction with the Design Engineering Manager.
About You
- HNC in Design Engineering, desirable chartered, 2:1 in Engineering, Masters (Mechanical/Civil/Structural)
- Minimum of five year experience in offshore industry
- Experience with structural and mechanical design in the offshore environment
- Experience of hydraulic system design
- Mechanical/structural drafting
- High level of design and analytical skill combined with desire to research, test and challenge
- Able to produce high caliber work on time and to high standard
