Supporting installation,
intervention and beyond

Aquaterra Energy’s Tree Running Tools (TRTs) and legacy well connectors provide the critical interface between subsea trees and the equipment required to install, access, maintain and ultimately retire offshore wells.

Compatible with a wide range of vertical and horizontal subsea tree architectures, our systems help operators connect existing infrastructure to future well access and intervention activities throughout the field lifecycle.

Whether supporting a new offshore development, a mature asset or a complex intervention campaign, our adaptable TRT and legacy well connector solutions are engineered around the requirements of the project.

Keeping offshore assets accessible

A TRT and legacy well connector connects to the top of a subsea tree, allowing the tree to be safely installed, recovered and accessed throughout its operational life. It also provides the critical interface between the tree and the equipment required for future intervention activities.

We supply TRTs for both vertical and horizontal subsea tree systems, including mono-bore and dual-bore configurations. Each solution can be configured around the specific tree interface, operating environment and intervention methodology.

This flexible approach supports a wide range of offshore operations, including riser-based intervention, wire-through-water campaigns, slickline and e-line activities. Depending on the project, the TRT or legacy well connector can interface with intervention risers, subsea lubricators and pressure control equipment, providing a reliable connection between existing subsea infrastructure and the equipment required to access the well.

From installation and maintenance through to intervention and eventual well abandonment, our TRT and legacy well connector systems help operators maximise asset value while maintaining flexibility throughout the field lifecycle.

Engineered around existing subsea infrastructure

As offshore assets mature, operators can face increasing challenges accessing existing subsea trees and wellhead systems. Original equipment may no longer be supported, connectors may be obsolete, and critical equipment may have spent years in storage awaiting future use.

Aquaterra Energy helps bridge the gap between legacy subsea infrastructure and modern well access systems.

We hold a range of connector and crossover solutions, including collet connectors, H4 connectors and various TRT crossovers. Where an existing solution is unavailable, we can source, service, re-engineer or redesign legacy equipment to suit the required tree or wellhead interface.

For more complex projects, we can also develop bespoke connector systems where no suitable interface exists. This enables intervention, maintenance and well abandonment activities to proceed without depending on obsolete equipment or unsupported OEM systems.

By adapting the interface rather than replacing existing infrastructure, we help operators protect previous investment, extend asset life and unlock opportunities that might otherwise remain inaccessible.

Compatible with every subsea tree architecture

We supply TRT and legacy well connector systems for both vertical and horizontal subsea tree architectures.

For vertical tree applications, we can provide mono-bore and dual-bore connector systems, including interfaces designed to engage with vertical tree entry mandrels. For horizontal tree applications, our TRT solutions incorporate adaptable stinger and connector arrangements engineered around the existing tree configuration.

The modular nature of our systems allows connectors, stingers and crossover arrangements to be tailored to different tree manufacturers, sealing profiles and interface requirements.

This flexibility is particularly valuable across mature fields and multi-field campaigns where operators may encounter several subsea tree designs. Rather than sourcing multiple specialised interfaces, a coordinated adaptable and configurable TRT solution can simplify access across the entire development.

Protecting flexibility for the future

While a TRT or legacy well connector may represent a single component within a larger system, it plays a vital role in connecting subsea infrastructure to the equipment required to access, maintain and maximise offshore assets.

Aquaterra Energy can supply standalone TRT systems or integrate them into wider riser based well access packages, including intervention risers, crossover systems and supporting equipment. Our solutions can be configured around the selected vessel, water depth and intervention methodology, ensuring the right level of support for every project between seabed and surface.

As part of our broader offshore developments and well access capabilities, TRT and legacy well connector solutions provide operators with a flexible route to supporting assets throughout their operational life, from installation and intervention through to eventual well abandonment.
